As promised, I've completed the index update before the first tour of 2007 begins. It's just a bit larger than usual . . . I'd like to announce a return to the weekly updates, but I don't know if my work schedule will allow it yet. So I'll set a more modest set of goals: one mid-tour update, an end-of-tour update, and pretty regular updates to the "Currently Circulating" pages as recordings begin to circulate. On the news front, the major events are the shutdown (hopefully temporary) of the Pink Robert tracker and the tremendous burst of activity at the Hunger City tracker, which began as a mostly-Bowie site last summer, but has expanded its scope to cover several other major artists, in particular Dylan. And the torrents of note this "week" are at Hunger City, where a string of long-awaited digital transfers of the RS analog masters from late 1978 has begun running: December 9, 1978 (Columbia) www.hungercity.org/details.php?id=1204December 10, 1978 (Charlotte) www.hungercity.org/details.php?id=1193Charlotte is the underlying source recording for the "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" boot, but the boot was sourced from a 2d or 3d generation analog copy (at best). This is the first off-master digital transfer to come into general circulation, and should be recognized as a significant upgrade. Many thanks to the generous taper!
