New torrents - week ending March 1, 2009

The highlight of this week's uploads is probably RS's recent discovery of a longer, more complete audio recording from the April 22, 1976 (Clearwater) evening performance, one of the two semi-private concerts used for the "unreleased Hard Rain" video. The rarest upload may be a complete recording from the first night of the "Great Music Experience" in Japan in May 1994 -- but be warned, it includes no additional Dylan material and the sound quality is said to be well below average. Insarah has completing uploading the complete run of new transfers by LTD from the spring 1989 European leg of the NeverEnding Tour, more adventurous than the 1988 shows were (with all the ups and downs that that entails). And a Robert Shelton radio interview from late 1985 or early 1986 has turned up, probably first aired in connection with the release of Biograph. In non-Dylan material, two shows from Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams turned up last week at etree.org. I like this band; their cover of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is easy to find on youtube, and it sounds both fresh and Dylanesque, a hard combination for a band to pull off on a Dylan cover. Also showing up this week were recent shows from Chuck Prophet, Richard Thompson's 1000 Years of Popular Music, and Three Girls Without (sadly, and hopefully temporarily) Their Buddy; plus some older performances by Gary Burton with Larry Coryell, Clannad, and Graham Parker.
