Does anyone know anything other than the rumors that have been posted? Someone said that looking for the registration of the dylantree site owner now produces nothing. That would indicate the site is gone. On the other hand, someone said the sites were owned by different people, but had the same server. Does anyone know if the sites were sabotaged? Thanks.

Only guessing, but I don't think anything more sinister than a server crash is at fault.

I am sure that if problem was serious they would somehow let us know Perhaps by posting on sites like this and others

Mike Pucci (or someone claiming to be Mike Pucci, just to reflect a little of the paranoia in some of the discussions on rmd) posted today that the problem rests with the server host, and that not just the dylantree server but an entire bank of servers are, for the moment, offline. This may explain why some of us were getting a more serious failure notice that a simple server crash would usually cause.
As I've posted elsewhere, it's a bad idea to tie up too much of your Net access in one package. It looks like Mike and the admins of the other sites he hosted were using the Dylantree server as their webserver, mail server, etc, and so had their lines of communication cut.
The moral of this story (the moral of this song): It's a good idea to have an active web-based email account at all times, so that when things go wrong, you can always run down to the public library, coffee shop, community college, whatever, and post a cry for help.

Jonathan at the Watchtower sent me this in an email:
"I just got word from mike at the Dylantree, that runs the server, that it is there ISP that hasn't paid there INET bill, he is working hard to work something out."

I am missing the pool. SInce his Bobness isn't playing tonight, I'm not quite as antsy, but I sure wish the dylan-obsessed fantasy world would come back. I appreciate the Mirage, thank you.

I was told that not only dylantree is down but all other sites hosted by that particular company as well. One is said to be in contact with their folks. So everyone waits.

Day 4: Must not let panic set in. Each day we pray for relief, but the endless wastes stretch on, seemingly to infinity. FREE US! Give us release!

So this is where everyone has gone. Thought you could escape from me, huh? I don't post as much on the pool as I used to, but I like to know it's there. Thanks for providing a life-raft, Bill.

does anyone have any idea how long till this gets sorted out?.
not that i'm desperate (there isnt much to read/say on the pool anyway!) but its weird that people have been setting up new forums in the meantime (not that there is anything wrong in that - i'm grateful for it)
the last time the dylantree server crashed, everyone juts waited and it eventaully returned. now there are new boards being set up, making it seem like a long wait coming up thios time

Hey, Mende! I guess the main difference to the last time the pool was down is that there still was the watchtower, which wasn´t maybe crowded but regularly used by a many people (even tom. posted there and got himself an avatar!). Maybe the technical means have also changed in the last ... what was it? ... four weeks, so that more people embark on putting their own boards up - Which is very much welcomed of course.
